About Zumarul Wafaa El-Ma'arij
Zumarul Wafaa El-Ma'arij is the 39th generation of Assalaam Islamic Modern Boarding School Surakarta. The name of the generation, "Zumarul Wafaa El-Ma'arij," means "Group of the faithful in the ascent toward higher stations". The name was officially established in August 2025 by the Quality Assurance Unit (UPM) of PPMI Assalaam after careful consideration.
Zumar (زُمَر)
"Zumar" comes from the word "زُمْرَة" which means "Group", "Team", or "Line." The name is also taken from Surah Az-Zumar, the 39th chapter of the Qur'an. We call ourselves "Zumar" because we are not alone. We are a line moving in step, in the same direction, with one intention. No one is left behind, and no one walks alone.
Wafaa (وَفَاء)
"Wafaa" comes from the word "وَفَى - يَفِى - وَفَاءً" which means "Loyalty", "Fulfilling Promises", and "Peace of Heart." For us, strength does not only come from ability but also from loyalty. Loyal to the knowledge we seek, loyal to the responsibilities we carry, and loyal to the values we uphold from the first day we stepped into PPMI Assalaam.
El-Ma'arij (ٱلْمَعَارِج)
"El-Ma'arij" comes from the word "مَعْرَج," the plural form of "stairway," which means "Stairways to higher ranks." We know that the path to glory is not flat and comfortable, but full of ascents. We choose the path of climbers — a path that demands determination, not just intention; a path that elevates, not pampers; a path that is tough, yet leads to the peak.
We are a group of souls brought together from the starting point. Tempered by time, shaped by praise, and united in a challenging journey. We walk in a line, remain steadfast in loyalty, and climb with hope.
